- Hairy vetch, or common vetch, is an excellent cover crop from the legume family.
- With rapid initial development.
- Produces a lot of green mass, thereby suppressing weed growth.
- The spring vetch plant is characterized by a very well-branched root system that fixes atmospheric nitrogen.
- Undemanding in terms of soil, but does not tolerate acidic soil.
- With thin stems and prone to lodging, it is recommended to use it in a mixture with other species such as buckwheat, oats, phacelia, or white mustard.
Seeding rate: 10-15 g/1 m2 (pure sowing), 5-7 g/1 m2 (mixed sowing).
- Sown from May onwards.
- Sowing depth 3–4 cm.
- Annual.
