The Golden Standard for Home Gardens – Green Lawns and Lush Flowerbeds
4 kg of Calcium Nitrate is the optimal choice for homeowners. If you notice your lawn is sparse and yellowish after winter, or your beets and carrots aren’t thriving, this fertilizer is your garden’s secret weapon.
Benefits for Your Garden:
-
Lawn Revitalizer: High nitrogen content makes your lawn grow vigorously, becoming dense and dark green again (application rate approx. 40 g/m²).
-
Soil Improver: Unlike regular nitrogen, this product contains lime, which is critically important for improving Estonia’s often acidic garden soils.
-
Versatile: Ideal for cabbage, onions, fruit trees, and berry bushes.
How to Use in Your Home Garden? For best results, sprinkle granules directly onto the soil before rain or watering.
-
Fruit Trees and Bushes: Sprinkle around the base in early spring (20 g/m²).
-
Vegetables: Mix into the soil before planting or fertilize during growth.
-
NB! Use from spring until mid-July so plants can harden off before winter.
Usage and Dosage
Calcium Nitrate is very convenient to use – you can sprinkle it directly onto the soil (and water it in) or dissolve it in a watering can.
1. As a Liquid Fertilizer (Fastest effect):
-
Young Seedlings: Dissolve 2 teaspoons in 10 liters of water.
-
Mature Plants: Dissolve 2 tablespoons in 10 liters of water.
-
Tomatoes and Cucumbers: Water with the solution every 4–10 days (use 3–6 liters of solution per m²).
2. Dry Fertilization (On soil surface):
-
Sensitive Crops (Flowers, lettuce, radish): 30 g / m².
-
Resistant Crops (Cucumber, tomato): 40 g / m².
Application Rates per Crop (g/m²):
One handful is approximately 25 g.
| Crop | Rate | Time / Method |
| Lawn | 40 g | In spring or after mowing to boost growth. |
| Cabbage, cucumber, tomato | 40 g | Before sowing or planting. |
| Carrot, onion, beet | 40 g | Before sowing. |
| Potato | 30 g | Before planting. |
| Potato (sprouted) | 15 g | When shoots are 15–20 cm long. |
| Fruit trees, berry bushes | 20 g | In early spring at the start of growth. |
Important: As this is a strong nitrogen fertilizer, we recommend using it mainly from spring to mid-summer. Using it in late summer may hinder plants from preparing for winter.
