Create a personal and sustainable mushroom forest in your garden Why spend hours wandering in the woods when home garden mushroom cultivation is within reach for the smart gardener? Our 10-gram biological mushroom mycelium is designed to allow you to integrate pure nature directly into your backyard. By planting these edible mushrooms under pines or other conifers (such as spruce or larch), you significantly enrich your home garden’s biodiversity and soil ecosystem. This is a 100% natural process, completely free of artificial fertilizers and safe for your family, curious pets, and garden microfauna.
How to encourage wild mushrooms to grow in your garden? The best time for planting mycelium is from mid-April to October. Slippery Jack prefers light sandy soil, and mycorrhiza (symbiosis between fungus and tree) develops most successfully within the root systems of younger trees.
-
Natural preparation: Dig three holes 15 cm deep and 30–40 cm in diameter around the selected tree (0.5–5 meters from the trunk). Use a substrate mixed from peat and coniferous sawdust (in a 5:1 ratio) for filling, which mimics the mushroom’s natural habitat.
-
Simple planting: Fill the holes halfway with the prepared mixture, divide the mycelium in the package into three parts, and place one in each nest. Cover with the remaining substrate, press down gently, and water generously – allow about one bucket of water per hole.
-
Smart care: Cover the planting areas with pine needles, moss, or leaves. This maintains moisture and creates an ideal forest floor microclimate. Tip: A powerful boost to mycelium development is provided by organic sugar water (10 g of sugar per 10 liters of water)!
Under favorable weather conditions and with proper care, you may notice the first brown-capped mushrooms in the first or second year. One tree can delight you with dozens of delicious mushrooms every season for 3–5 consecutive years. Bring wild mushrooms to your garden and make every cooking session a special occasion!
