Fabric mulch is a specially developed lightweight ground cover material for use in gardening and landscaping. The black polypropylene material is resistant to UV radiation and compounds found in soil. The fabric prevents weed growth and also accelerates the rooting of young plants by keeping the soil moist and warm. Fabric mulch can also be used to separate different soil layers, such as between drainage and substrate in a flower bed. In planting areas covered with fabric mulch, the soil remains looser than in beds covered with weed barrier fabric or geotextile. The rough surface of the fabric mulch deters slugs and snails from moving between plants. Depending on the application, it lasts 5-6 years.
Instructions for Use
Lay the fabric on prepared soil and cut planting holes with a sharp knife. Secure the edges with soil or special fastening pegs. In landscaping, the area around plants can be covered with bark chips or decorative gravel.
