Create a personal and sustainable mushroom forest in your garden. Why spend hours wandering in the woods when backyard mushroom cultivation is well within reach for the savvy gardener? Our 10-gram biological mycelium is designed to let you integrate pure nature directly into your backyard. By planting these edible mushrooms under pine trees or near other conifers (such as spruce or larch), you will significantly enrich your garden’s biodiversity and soil ecosystem. This is a 100% natural process, completely free of artificial fertilizers, and entirely safe for your family, curious pets, and the small wildlife in your garden.
How to encourage wild mushrooms to grow in your garden? The best time to plant the mycelium is from mid-April to October. Slippery Jack loves light, sandy soil, and mycorrhiza (the symbiosis between the mushroom and the tree) forms most successfully in the root systems of younger trees.
-
Natural preparation: Dig three holes 15 cm deep and 30–40 cm in diameter around the selected tree (0.5–5 meters from the trunk). Fill them with a substrate mixture of peat and conifer sawdust (in a 5:1 ratio) that mimics the mushroom’s natural habitat.
-
Easy planting: Fill the holes halfway with the prepared mixture, divide the mycelium in the package into three portions, and place one into each hole. Cover with the remaining substrate, press down gently, and water generously – using about one bucket of water per hole.
-
Smart care: Cover the planting areas with pine needles, moss, or tree leaves. This retains moisture and creates the ideal forest floor microclimate. Tip: Mild sugar water (10 g of sugar per 10 liters of water) provides a powerful boost to the development of the mycelium!
Under favorable weather conditions and with proper care, you may notice the first brown-capped mushrooms in the first or second year. A single tree can delight you with dozens of delicious mushrooms each season for 3 to 5 consecutive years. Grow wild mushrooms in your garden and make every meal a special occasion!
