Are you tired of artificial sweeteners and looking for a pure alternative to everyday white sugar? Health-conscious nutrition and organic farming are indispensable values, and stevia offers a brilliant, 100% natural solution. This small but incredibly powerful plant is a true lifesaver for those wishing to maintain a healthy weight, support pancreatic function, or simply boost digestion. Best of all – it is a completely calorie-free sweetener that helps regulate blood sugar!
Growing stevia from seed is an extremely exciting and rewarding endeavor. Imagine an upcoming May family vacation somewhere on the scenic riverbanks of Pärnu or Võru County – sitting on the terrace in the morning and sipping warm tea, pleasantly sweetened by the homegrown organic herb raised under your own care. Such self-grown and pure raw material provides an emotional added value to every drink and dessert that cannot be bought from a store.
How to ensure successful germination and a bountiful harvest?
-
Enchanted by sun and warmth: Stevia is a true heat-lover and adores a sunny location protected from winds. As the plant is very sensitive to cold (tolerating only up to +7 degrees Celsius), it is ideal for the volatile Estonian climate as a pot plant on a windowsill, in a warm greenhouse, or on a sunny terrace for the summer.
-
Germination masterclass: Creating new life from the ten tiny seeds in the package requires a bit of patience, as germination is uneven. The golden rule here is simple: seeds must never be covered with soil! Press them gently onto the moist soil surface and ensure constant moisture.
-
Year-round healthy sweetener: Pick and use the leaves fresh directly in smoothies or dry them for the later winter period. The greatest advantage of stevia is that its intense sweetness is perfectly preserved even in dried form.
Take your family’s well-being into your own hands, give up excessive refined sugar, and bring a piece of pure, sweet nature into your home!
