Wait to install the cover until consistent sub-zero temperatures have arrived (usually November-December). Covering too early during above-freezing temperatures can cause premature growth and overheating.

For wider shrubs, gently tie the branches together with soft twine beforehand to prevent them from breaking under the cover or due to the weight of snow.

Carefully pull the bag over the plant’s crown, starting from the top and moving downward.

Tighten the drawstring at the bottom edge firmly around the plant trunk or pot and tie it securely to prevent cold wind from entering from below.

Remove the cover gradually in the spring (usually in April) and always on a cloudy day. Sudden exposure to sunlight can cause severe sunburn on young leaves and buds.
