This Estonian-made garden and lawn lime in a medium 5 kg package is an indispensable aid for maintaining orchards, berry bushes, and medium-sized vegetable patches. Many Estonian soils tend to become naturally acidic over time. In an acidic environment, the activity of soil microorganisms slows down, and plant roots cannot access vital macronutrients.
Applying this natural limestone flour to the soil restores the optimal pH level (between 6.0–7.0 for most garden crops), thereby revitalizing the soil’s biological activity. The magnesium in the product ensures deep green foliage, while calcium improves fruit shelf life and disease resistance. Regular liming keeps the soil structure friable and prevents excessive surface compaction.
Instructions for use and cultivation: Lime may be applied outside the entire growing season, from early spring to late autumn.
-
Maintenance liming: Apply at an application rate of 8 kg / 100 m² annually.
-
Planting new plants: When preparing the soil, dig 30–80 kg / 100 m² into the ground.
-
Crop preferences:
-
pH 6–7: tomato, cucumber, onion, pea, carrot, cabbage, beet, tulip bulbs.
-
pH 6–6.5: fruit trees, strawberries, potatoes, berry bushes.
-
pH 5.5–6.5: lawn.
-
Tips and recommendations:
-
When creating garden paths or new beds, always mix the lime into the top 10–15 cm layer of soil, as it reacts faster within the soil than when simply left on the surface.
-
Avoid simultaneous application of lime and nitrogen-containing manure – their interaction causes valuable nitrogen to volatilize into the air. Allow at least a few weeks between these two tasks.
