Do your beloved houseplants tend to turn yellow or are the soil surfaces plagued by annoying fungus gnats? Very often, the root of these problems is excess moisture and a lack of air in the pot. However, the solution is much simpler and more natural than you might think! Pure and chemical-free expanded clay pebbles (2 liters) are every conscious green thumb’s secret weapon, helping to create the perfect living environment for your potted flowers and balcony plants.
Made from clay fired at high temperatures, this 100% natural material serves two vital purposes in your home ecosystem, supporting modern and sustainable plant cultivation.
How do expanded clay pebbles improve the life of your plants?
-
Life-saving drainage for roots: Healthy plants start with healthy roots that need oxygen to live! By spreading a 2–3 cm thick layer at the bottom of the pot or balcony box, you create ideal water drainage. This prevents root rot caused by excess moisture, which is the number one cause of houseplant death.
-
Natural insect control and moisture balance: By spreading expanded clay on the soil surface, you create an elegant and minimalist look that fits any interior. But its true value lies in protection – it prevents moisture from evaporating too quickly, keeps the soil surface from molding, and acts as a physical barrier to annoying insects that can no longer lay eggs in the soil.
-
Complete safety: The material is free from any harmful compounds, does not rot over time, and is completely safe even if there are curious pets in the household.
Smart gardener’s tip: To prevent irrigation water from washing soil into the layer of pebbles placed at the bottom over time, place a piece of breathable landscape fabric between the pebbles and the potting soil. This small action keeps your pot’s drainage system clean and functional for years!
