‘Lilac Palace’ is a compact (10–15 cm) annual that produces a mass of pale lilac flowers. This variety is specifically designed for decorating semi-shaded and shaded areas, serving as a hardy addition to terrace pots, flowerbed borders, or balcony boxes. The plant blooms incessantly until the arrival of autumn night frosts, provided it is given a stable moisture regime and continuous fertilization. As a practical added value, the seeds are pelleted (5–7 seeds per pellet). Consequently, the plants emerge in clusters and reach the desired density faster, saving time as the separation of delicate seedlings is no longer necessary.
Usage and Cultivation Instructions:
-
Pre-cultivation: Sow indoors in February or March (preferably under a grow light).
-
Sowing: Place the pellets sparsely on the soil surface. Do not cover with soil, as lobelia strictly requires light to germinate. Mist lightly with water so that the pellet coating begins to dissolve.
-
Planting out: Move the plants to open ground or permanent outdoor containers only after the last night frosts have passed.
-
Growing conditions: Choose a location that is not exposed to direct scorching sun (partial shade or shade).
Tips and recommendations:
-
Use room-temperature water to moisten the sowings and avoid overwatering, which can promote damping-off.
-
If you desire a more lush and branched bush, pinch off the tops of young plants after they have grown a few centimeters long.
