The Kaminer 10-liter enameled cast iron cauldron is designed for cooking over an open fire, making it ideal for outdoor kitchens, campsites, or backyard fire pits. Cast iron is known for its excellent heat retention and even heat distribution. This means stews, soups, and casseroles cook uniformly and stay warm for a long time even after being removed from the heat.
The main practical advantage of this model is its internal enamel coating. Unlike regular untreated cast iron, the enameled surface does not require constant seasoning with fat and is not susceptible to acidic foods, such as tomatoes or vinegar. The smooth enamel layer prevents food from sticking severely and significantly simplifies cleaning the pot after meals. The cauldron’s robust construction, weighing nearly 15 kg, ensures stability even on uneven ground and in windy conditions.
Usage and Safety Instructions:
-
Location Selection: Use the cauldron exclusively outdoors and in a well-ventilated area. Due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, heating the pot indoors, in garages, enclosed gazebos, or under canopies is prohibited.
-
Heat Protection: All metal parts of the cauldron become very hot during cooking. Always use thick heat-resistant gloves when lifting the pot or moving the lid.
-
Safety Zone: Keep children and pets at a safe distance (at least 2 meters) from the operating and cooling cauldron.
-
Cleaning: Always allow the cast iron cauldron to cool naturally after use. Wash the lukewarm or cooled pot with warm water, a soft sponge, and a mild dishwashing detergent.
Tips and recommendations:
-
Never pour cold water onto a hot cast iron pot – a sudden temperature change (thermal shock) can permanently crack both the enamel and the cast iron.
-
To preserve the enameled surface, use wooden or heat-resistant silicone utensils for stirring food, as metal ladles can cause scratches in the glaze.
-
Gradually heat the cast iron cauldron with food. Since cast iron retains temperature for a very long time, a strong flame is not necessary for prolonged simmering – consistent glowing embers are sufficient.
