This fast-growing mixture offers a rich selection of spicy and aromatic leaves, perfectly suited for fresh salads, as well as for seasoning meat and fish dishes. Some plants in the mix can also be successfully dried to preserve their flavor.
The mix is highly adaptable and suitable for cultivation in open fields, greenhouses, or on home balconies and windowsills in spacious pots. One 3-gram packet (1 gram contains approximately 800 seeds) is sufficient to cover about 5 square meters of garden bed, ensuring a good harvest. Such a diverse combination in the garden also helps support local biodiversity.
Usage and Cultivation Instructions:
-
Sowing Time: For pre-cultivation or growing indoors in pots or heated greenhouses, sow seeds from February to May. Direct sowing outdoors can be performed from May to August, once the soil has warmed slightly.
-
Growing Location: Prefers a sunny location and airy, light soil with good drainage.
-
Sowing Depth: Maximum 2 cm.
-
Spacing: When sowing or thinning later, leave 10 cm between rows and between plants in the row for optimal plant development.
-
Harvest: Fresh leaves can be harvested from March to September, depending on the sowing time.
Tips and recommendations:
-
To ensure a continuous and fresh harvest throughout the season, make successive sowings every 2–3 weeks in the garden bed.
-
Keep the soil consistently moist during the rapid growth phase of young plants. If subjected to drought, the leaves of leafy greens become woody, their taste turns bitter, and the plants tend to flower prematurely.
-
When harvesting, first pick the larger outer leaves or cut the plants higher up, leaving the growing point intact – this allows the plants to regrow and produce new foliage.
